Gobindo Bhog is a small grained white scented rice from West Bengal. It has a sweet, buttery flavour with a wonderful mouthfeel. Slightly sticky when cooked, it is used to make many Bengali dishes. It is a key ingredient used for preparing offerings to Govindaji or Lord Krishna and cooked especially on auspicious days. We have used Gobindo Bhog to make sweets, kheer and even risotto. Because the rice sticks together, the consistency of the dish prepared is excellent. A definite must-try rice. Once you use it, you will love it!
The Story
Gobindo Bhog Raw Rice comes to us from two sources. One is a third-party certified farmers’ group based in Calcutta. Their farmers are from Nadiad and Sundarban regions of West Bengal. The other source is a PGS-certified farm in Bankura. Rice sourced from a single farm ensures that the consistency of the rice is much better. Being a specialty rice, it is milled with most of the bran removed. This rice is grown, processed, milled and stored without any chemicals.
